Seeking Friends (And Apparently Competing Wiith 4000 Other Guys)
Description
Hello ladies of Calgary,
I'm posting in the Kijiji Friends section, which means one of three things has happened:
1. I've exhausted all my hobbies.
2. My dog refuses to have meaningful conversations.
3. I've wandered into a digital wasteland populated by hundreds of men whose ads begin with, "Hi, I'm a Caucasian male..."
After careful research, I can confirm that approximately 87% of the ads here contain some variation of:
- "I enjoy movies."
- "I enjoy walks."
- "I enjoy coffee."
- "I'm easygoing."
- "Just seeing what's out there."
Groundbreaking stuff.
In the interest of standing out, I'd like to be honest.
Yes, I'd enjoy a coffee.
Yes, I'd enjoy a walk.
Yes, I have also seen movies.
My other hobbies include:
Wondering if anyone has ever successfully made a friend through Kijiji.
Reading personal ads and slowly transforming into David Attenborough.
Here we observe the middle-aged male in his natural habitat.
Notice the distinctive mating call:
"Looking for a genuine female friend. No drama."
Fascinating.
But unlike many of my fellow adventurers in the Kijiji wilderness, I can at least acknowledge that posting a personal ad in 2026 feels a little bit like fishing in a puddle.
To the women reading these ads:
I admire your courage.
Every time you open this section, you must navigate through a sea of lonely optimists, retired guitar owners, amateur philosophers, and men who have somehow listed "watching Netflix" as a personality trait.
As for me, I'm simply looking for good conversation, a few laughs, and perhaps proof that normal humans still exist on this platform.
If not, that's okay.
I'll be over here enjoying movies, walks, coffee, and the crushing realization that every other guy on Kijiji had the exact same idea.
Stay safe out there.
