Posting this for my in-laws (I can personally attest they are the cleanest most meticulous home owners I know and would take phenomenal care of your home).
We are a semi-retired couple in our 60’s that have owned our own home for 30+ years next to a golf course in Lethbridge and have moved to Calgary to be closer to our family. Before semi-retirement we had careers in insurance and education.
We are extremely meticulous and clean with our own space and have house sat for periods of time in the past. We will be available in May of this year to house sit and our good friends suggested we ‘open up our services’ to others in Calgary area that are leaving their homes for 3+ months and looking for responsible people to care and maintain the home in their absence. We enjoy doing our own snow shoveling, lawn mowing, gardening, and small odds and ends. My one son is a plumber / gas fitter and my other son does insurance restorations so have someone on speeddial for anything major (my other son-in-law is an engineer but that’s not very helpful:)
Ideally you are a mature individual or couple that is headed out of the city for an extended period of time and are worried about theft, vandals, ongoing mtnc, or having your place sit vacant. You don’t want the hassle of finding the right tenants or the nightmare of returning home and them refusing to leave…. You recognize the value of a trustworthy couple in your home and know the peace of mind that comes with your home being cared for. We have had dogs for 20+ years (our last Lab passed away 2 years ago) so we are able to dog sit as well.
We typically don’t charge for our services but require home owners to cover the utilities for the home while they are away. We take care of all snow, lawn, and small odds and ends in the home (with your awareness and permission). Our ideal location to house sit would be in the NW or Cochrane (where are kids are located and where we spend most of our time at their homes). As mentioned earlier we are available in May onwards.
