I am 63 years of age now, and I have 13 years of full-time working experience with People diagnosed with Dementia at various levels. I reside in Nanaimo, but I am not restricted as to where I work on the Island/Mainland. Over the years, I have worked from Campbell River all the way to Victoria, including; White Cliff, Kitsilano, White Rock. I work as a live-in when too far from Nanaimo, but I can also work as a live-in in Town, when dealing with a person diagnosed with Dementia as most need a 24/7 person/caregiver for their safety. I usually work a minimum of 2 years with the same person. I never work with more than one person at the time, considering the employment is base on a full-time 24 hours/day. I invest a lot of my time, meaning that I can work for many consecutive weeks without a break. I don't take day time breaks for myself. I am an excellent cook, enjoy doing some light gardening/watering, tidying up "good gardening knowledge" House management, dispensing & renewal of prescriptions, make Doctor's/Dentist appointments etc. I give a summary of the day every night to the family member who has Power of Attorney. I have an excellent Emergency Protocol & deal very well & calmly when an emergency occurs. I always stay with my client in the Hospital until a family member is present.
Activities : I like to out for lovely long drives with the person in my care. I always have fun activities and great places to go, even if I have to drive for 2 hours to get there. I no longer work with ambulatory cases, lack of mobility or incontinence. I am excellent at keeping my client involved, engaged and super entertained by doing tons of pleasant & fulfilling experiences. As of the last 2 years, my client used to say ; you are the best driver I know & you know how to make me live the life & you don't try to control me. I always feel free & happy with everything we do together. Now, you know how I take my day time break. I go out for wonderful & well thought of activities/drives, and always fun for my client & myself as well. I am self-employed, and my Accountant takes care of my income tax & work related expenses. I love to take my client out for nice lunches/dinners and its always my treat, meaning; I pick up the bill. You only get an invoice for my hours worked. I am extremely accommodating to family members whenever they need. I don't have a problem working extra weeks on top of my regular schedule, if the family has vacation plans, business trips or simply wanting to enjoy their own time with their own family/friends at home, especially at this time of the year. This is what I offer.
When I see my client smile, laugh & joyful, this is when I know I am doing my job well.
Please, feel welcome to call me anytime at : 250-714-4466
P.S. I am available now & could start very quickly if needed immediately.
I can provide you with a Criminal Record Check, Proof of 3 Covid19 vaccines & 2 Boosters. I have extra car insurance to transport my client. I can provide you 3 excellent Letters of Reference from my last 3 employers in the last 6 years,
I am fluent in French, English, and I can also travel with my client with or without her family. I have a valid Passport.
