I am a mature (50+) male who loves music, but I've never been very good at playing guitar. I try, but fail miserably. So, I'm hoping to find other beginner friendly musicians to jam with to hopefully improve my playing eventually. I prefer playing rhythm guitar, but can play bass with an equal lack of ability, if needed...lol
Maybe we can jam out some simple tunes or create our own!
I listen to a wide range of music, from rock, early country, klezmer, zydeco (accordian, ya!), jazz (Go Go Penguin!), metal (Faith No More!), bluegrass....you get the idea. I'm all over the place!
I can play Substitute by The Who all the way through! Woot!!! LOL
Help me not suck so bad!!! Thanks! :)

hello! I have a ~100 year old home in the north end (halifax), and I would love to be more self sufficient when it comes to using tools and DIY stuff. for example, I recently had my floors refinished and I need to put the quarter rounds back on, which I think would be easy enough... cutting the strips, nail gun... but would be nice to have some guidance. anyone retired / got some time on their hands who would want to teach me some things on evenings or weekends? thanks!

In the pursuit of a fulfilling career, affirmations serve as powerful tools that can significantly contribute to one's ability to secure a good job. Affirmations are positive statements that individuals repeat to themselves with the intention of fostering a positive mindset and influencing their behavior. When strategically employed, affirmations can positively impact one's job search journey.
Firstly, affirmations contribute to building and reinforcing a confident mindset. Job hunting can be a challenging and competitive process, often leading to self-doubt. By regularly affirming one's skills, qualifications, and worth, individuals cultivate a resilient mindset that withstands the inevitable setbacks in the job search. Confidence is a key factor that employers look for, and a self-assured candidate is more likely to make a lasting impression during interviews.
Moreover, affirmations help individuals clarify their career goals and aspirations. Crafting affirmations that articulate specific career objectives fosters focus and direction. For instance, an affirmation such as "I am securing a challenging position that aligns with my skills and passions" can guide job seekers towards opportunities that resonate with their professional ambitions. This clarity aids in making informed decisions during the job search process.
Additionally, affirmations enhance the power of visualization. Visualizing success is a crucial aspect of manifesting desired outcomes. Affirmations assist in creating a vivid mental image of landing the ideal job, envisioning the workspace, colleagues, and the sense of accomplishment. This positive visualization not only boosts motivation but also helps individuals project confidence during interviews.
Furthermore, affirmations promote a proactive approach to networking. Positive affirmations can instill a proactive mindset that encourages job seekers to reach out to industry professionals, attend networking events, and actively seek opportunities. The belief in one's ability to make meaningful connections contributes to expanding professional networks, increasing the likelihood of discovering hidden job opportunities.
In conclusion, the utilization of affirmations in the pursuit of a good job extends beyond mere positive thinking. Affirmations shape a confident mindset, clarify career goals, enhance visualization, and promote a proactive approach to networking. When integrated into a comprehensive job search strategy, affirmations become a valuable asset, empowering individuals to navigate the competitive job market with resilience and determination.

I run NovaScotiaFood.com, a website dedicated to helping people find fresh, local NS food. The site was established in 2016, and I have a lot of good content already, but I'm always adding more. There is a Recipes section where the general public can add recipes. Each recipe submission includes a field for you to include a link back to your own website. So, if you publish a recipe on my site, you'll get a nice backlink to yours. We both win.
Anyone can add a recipe, not just chefs or bloggers, and it doesn't matter what kind of site you link back to (as long as it's legal). All are welcome. Come check out the site! When we support our local food production network, everyone wins.

Looking for more Killteam players to join our play group. There are 4 of us currently; we all met through Kijiji. Hoping to find a few more players and run a campaign in the new year. We have played 2, 3, and 4 player matches.
All skill levels welcome. Between the four of us we have most teams covered. We have tons of terrain and can usually all host games. If you're new to the game we can teach you. We're all middle of the road players; matches are super fun but we still look up rules occasionally. All of us are within 25 min of downtown Halifax (Spryfield, Larry Uteck, Kearney Lake).
We are all in our 30s-early 40s and most of the guys have small kids so we usually play 7pm games.
Toss a message if you're interested in gaming!

Are you a very strong (lead) vocalist? Do you love high energy classic rock? Do you love to get out and play in front of an audience for fun? If so, read on...
Gigging cover band (no originals, no recording) – live performance focus. Music type is very high energy rock/rock n’roll 60’s to 80’s mostly. Current players are working business professionals so while this is a hobby for us, it is taken very seriously and you would have to have the same attitude, ability and work ethic as the group. In short, we are looking for a rare, very high end performer who has all the requirements. So here are the requirements:
• Right working attitude; enthusiastic, cooperative, positive, good communicator
• At least 19 years of age but must be stable and mature
• Have the time for learning new material (we constantly add new songs), practice on your own, attending practices, attending gigs
• Dedicated focus: this would become your only gigging band as there can be no conflict consideration in scheduling gigs; must be open to gig scheduling a very high proportion of the time
• Excellent lead vocal & harmony ability – very strong preference for someone who additionally can also do one of the following, in order of preference: (1) solid or better bass guitar skills (2) solid or better rhythm guitar skills or (3) solid or better MIDI programming/ keyboard (synth) skills. Solid means experience performing complex pieces, in front of an audience with great skill and dependable delivery. “Frontman” presentation is important. Our lead guitar currently sings about half the songs, with the expectation for you to sing the remaining half and provide backup/harmony vocals when not on lead duty
• Support from spouse/family and work situation; only you can determine this but you’re going to need it – budget 5 to 10 hrs per week not including gigs
• A sense of humour; we work hard and take what we do seriously when we are together but we have fun doing it
• Significant gigging experience; our entire focus is high energy gigging (plan up to 3 gigs per month, throughout the year)
• Most gigs will be in HRM but some will be out-of-town (overnight stay) – must be OK for such gigs
• Pro gear and reliable transportation
• Neat tidy appearance and professional behaviour; must suit the group – we are a non-smoking, non-drinking and no dope outfitPlease note there will be an interview and audition process requiring you to demonstrate your abilities and suitability (separate auditions may be arranged for the vocals and instrumentation if that is preferred). This will include learning a bit of material (potentially new-to-you) before anyone would be selected for the slot. Regularly scheduled (standing) practice sessions are in Fall River.
If you think you are a fit and are interested in being considered for this slot, just reply to this ad providing the following information:
• Describe how you meet all the requirements noted above
• Detailed description of your performing history, including gigging experience band names, type of music, number of shows played, type of venues, etc.
• Rate your own vocal and playing skills against professional musicians of your choice – tell it like it is, strengths and weaknesses
• name your 10+ all-time favourite songs (or albums if you prefer)
• Tell us anything else you want us to know about you related to music and performing!Once we receive your completed reply, we will contact you to discuss further and answer any questions. Thanks for reading.

I am looking to start doing live streams for music writing sessions. The idea behind the stream, would be to write a complete song from start to finish over the duration of the stream. Of course when I say "finish" I mean, a solid sounding demo track. I will be writing and playing the instruments (guitar bass drums vocals) myself, hopping between instruments, building the song out with all the instruments 4 bars at a time, using loops when possible, and using the DAW to build the arrangements.
I'm looking for someone who can both manage the audio recording in the music software, as well as manage the stream itself (cameras, audio). I tried doing it all myself, but having to bounce back and forth between the computer and an instrument every couple minutes really bogged down the process. I have nice home demo studio, and all the gear necessary to do a very high quality stream, and produce high quality recordings. My DAW is Reaper. I use podfarm for guitars, superior drummer/alesis strike pro for drums, nice interface, monitors, sm7 for vocals, and all the fundamental plugin requirements.
I suppose you could broadly describe my sound as hard rock, however i'll write anything from pretty acoustic love songs to really really heavy metal. It would be great to work with someone who is experienced with reaper or music recording generally, but I'd be open to taking on a novice and teaching them how to do tracking in reaper if they were a good fit for the stream. You would also be featured on the stream prominently, so being comfortable in front of a camera would definitely be a plus. I expect a full stream will take 5 to 6 hrs, so probably going to take up the majority of an evening (maybe Sundays?)
If this sounds like a project you'd be into, LMK your experience and what you'd expect for compensation for these recording sessions.

The next regular monthly meeting of the Central Nova Coin Club is scheduled for February 5, 2024. Monthly meetings of the Central Nova Coin Club are scheduled for 7 PM on the first Monday of each month throughout the year unless the first Monday is a holiday.
Regular monthly meetings are held in the large meeting space at the Truro Recreation Department Building (former Douglas Street School), 40 Douglas Street in Truro. Visitors are welcome. The meetings begin with a mini auction of coins, tokens or paper currency brought in by members. Visitors are welcome to participate. Payment by cash only please. Then there will be a short business meeting to deal with club activities, followed by an informational program on some aspect of numismatics. Department of Health protocols will be in effect and those who wish to wear masks are encouraged to do so.
There will be club members present who are knowledgeable and happy to appraise old coins, tokens and paper currency, and provide a free estimate of their value. You should always know the value of your collectable items before you part with them. It is wise to obtain an appraisal from a numismatist or a local collector you know and trust.
ALWAYS BEWARE of the outfits with fancy advertising , coming from away, that flit into town for a day. They only pay a very small percentage of what your collectable item/coin is actually worth. We have heard so many horror stories of people who have been ripped off. DO NOT BECOME VICTIM OF THESE UNSCRUPULOUS OUTFITS BECAUSE YOU DO NOT KNOW THE TRUE VALUE OF YOUR COINS. There are a number of local collectors and businesses that buy and sell coins and paper currency - please support local in pursuit of your hobby.
CLUB TIP : -Never, NEVER clean or polish old coins; polishing will ruin the collectable value. Too many coins with potential value have been ruined by someone trying to make the coin shine.
Anyone with an interest in coin, token or paper currency collecting is welcome to attend one of our meetings. Perhaps you will be interested in joining this popular hobby group. Just show up, or if you wish more information, please use this contact message or check out our Central Nova Coin Club Facebook page.
