Looking for part-time 5-day-a-week (3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tues, Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun) Friend/Companion/PSW for Mom. She is 84 years old and mentally capable but her mobility is declining. She is a resident at Princess Gardens so there is not cooking, cleaning, or meals involved, just some tidying and making a snack. Help with bathing or dressing may be required. She has all the medical equipment she needs (wheelchair, walker, grab bars, safety poles, etc).
Mom enjoys puzzles, reading, and gardening (she has a healthy row of plants on her window ledge!). We are looking for someone to help improve her quality of life as she feels she can't go anywhere or do the things she would like to without help. We want someone to be there to regularly help her with what she needs done, make sure she is continuing to walk as much as she can, and take her out occasionally to shop or on a small excursion to the zoo or museum.
We prefer someone who lives in the Peterborough area and you need to speak fluent English. We are thinking that Mom would relate better to someone who is middle-aged.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Complying with requirements, legal requirements including policies, standards, rules, and programs · Assist in promoting an active health and safety culture at · Assist in implementing the health and safety systems and risk management systems by contributing to its continuous enhancement and completion of auditing requirements · Provide administrative support for incident management database and as required · Review and prepare reports on health and safety and monthly workplace inspection results · Review and maintain records of daily equipment checklists, First Aid inspections and address corrective actions · Build and develop JSA’s · Assist with the administration, training and maintenance of health and safety programs including but not limited to Working from Heights, Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness, WHMIS/GHS, Ergonomics, PPE and Hearing Loss Prevention, Lockout/Tagout, Contractor safety, Machine Guarding · Review and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) · WSIB case management and incident investigations · Facilitate health and safety training and maintain safety training records · Administer and maintain SQDCI boards/Safety Alerts/Safety Talks/Toolbox Talks program and training records · Participate as an active management representative and liaison with the Joint Health and Safety committee to communicate and record meeting minutes, agenda and meeting schedule · Actively participate as a safety representative for at customer work site safety meetings to communicate and address concerns regarding the health and safety of and its contractors · Promote effective communication and dissemination of relevant health and safety information · Support the planning, organizing, directing and monitoring of health and safety programs, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislative and requirements · Interface with field staff and support project site work · Assist with and be able to perform job safety analysis, analyze operations, identify risks and implement preventative measures · Support with the coordination of incident investigations; document and supervise preventative and corrective action · Support environmental compliance and initiatives such as spill control, wastewater by-laws and recycling · Keep abreast of developments in health and safety legislation and practice · Requirement to work with safety professionals across our Canadian locations. · Other duties and tasks as assigned Qualifications: · Degree or diploma in occupational safety and health · Excellent understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, with preference of knowledge in Industrial and Construction regulations, and other worker safety standards and their application, and a willingness to learn · Strong verbal and written communication skills · Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) · Must be able to work in a team environment · Creative problem-solving ability · Outward facing with good interpersonal skills · Self-motivated with good organizational capability · Must have a valid driver’s licence for travel in Ontario Company Description Fast Employment Services is leading Employment group in GTA. Liaise with interdisciplinary team and external care providers to facilitate best plan of care for each resident;
Lead and support Personal Support Workers and Health Care Aides in your home area to maximize resident care.
What YOU bring
Current registration as a Registered Nurse in applicable Province
Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset
Experience working with seniors and unregulated care providers
Strong assessment, documentation, communication and critical thinking skills
Strong written, oral and time-management skills, including demonstrated experience delegating tasks to Personal Support Workers / Health Care Aides
Proficiency with Technology including: Electronic Health Records, Electronic Medication Administration Records, Online Applications
