Job Description:OSP Telecom Designer: As a OSP Telecom Designer, you will actively showcase your expert knowledge of OSP telecommunications and become a key contributing member to successful projects across Canada. RESPONSIBILITIES * Perform the detailed design of FTTP networks from Central Office (C.O.) to customer Point of Entry (P.O.E.). Map service boundaries and allocate fiber counts. Determine the most effective method and materials required to service all locations within a given boundary including Residential, Commercial and MDU classifications. * Design Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) broadband plant, including signal level and power supplies. Complete projects such as HFC node splits, segmentations, and RF plant optimizations. Perform work in compliance with up-to-date safety codes, electric codes, customer practices and procedures. * Assess and incorporate municipal, regional, and third-party requirements to create permit documents. Reference specification sheets, standards documents, joint-use agreements, utility maps, survey files, site photographs and as-built documents. When working in a new market, assist in creating and updating specification sheets and standards documents. * Provide technical guidance based on expert knowledge of telecom infrastructure and industry construction standards. Conduct quality reviews and critique of work products. Recommend solutions that will improve technical and operational efficiency. * Draft IFR, IFC and ASR packages. Create material order forms, testing sheets, typical drawings, splicing schematics, and client database posting (Spatial Net, Network X, GCOMM). Complete data entry functions as needed. ATTRIBUTES * Excellent knowledge, and proficiency with current computer operating systems and Microsoft applications. * Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD. * Committed to professional development: learning, and understanding technical requirements pertaining to new industry products and tools as well as utility design and construction practices. * Maintains ownership of deliverables for the entire lifecycle of a project. Able to make reasoned and sound decisions. Possesses excellent project management and time management skills with the ability to execute multiple simultaneous responsibilities. * Highly detail-oriented, self-starter individual with excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to stay organized and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment. BURNCO has a tremendous career opportunity for a Director, Data & Analytics based out of our corporate headquarters in Calgary, Alberta or one of our regional offices in Irving, Texas or Henderson, Colorado. As our new Director, Data & Analytics you will be responsible for leading a diverse and best in class team with a passion for data and the value information brings to business when skillfully applied. Accepting the challenge to be accountable for developing and implementing an all-encompassing strategy and multi-year plan for data is something you relish. Add deep assignments like multi-year data management and governance, business intelligence (BI) reporting, and advanced analytics capabilities and you find yourself in data heaven. Charged with challenging the status quo to drive decisions and insights, you will work with and report to the Chief Information Officer & VP Transformation.
Organizational Impact
In this pivotal role, the Director, Data & Analytics is responsible for all decisions related to data and analytics aligned with the vision, roadmap, and delivery of data projects. The role is crucial as data is the lifeblood that sustains BURNCO’s growth. You enjoy helping leaders make the right strategic decisions, find ways to leverage data to Operations employees in their day-to-day tasks as well as with customers.
Level of Interaction/Influence
The Director, Data & Analytics interacts with IT leaders as well as all functional leaders, up to and including the C-suite.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
How we see your new role breaking down:
Data & Analytics Strategy & Delivery - 60%
- Develop and drive cross-functional data and analytics strategy across BURNCO
- Shape vision for data governance, BI, analytics, and insight development
- Develop and implement long-term organizational engagement roadmaps and strategies
- Work with cross-functional partners to construct and manage a pipeline of opportunities to drive business value
- Drive forward-looking functions and solutions necessary to deliver the analysis and insights required for evolving business needs
- Oversee the planning, delivery, and deployment of solutions across a variety of large-scale programs including data platforms and management, reporting, BI and advanced analytics
- Implement data governance, management, and ownership frameworks to create and maintain data quality
Staff & Change Management - 15%
- Build, direct and develop a best-in-class team
- Institutionalize awareness and understanding, championing a data-driven organization
- Facilitate strategic change management initiatives required to drive self-service adoption of BI and analytics capabilities
- Drive the strategic direction of the functional area and achieve the IT strategic plan
Collaboration, Operations, & Budget - 25%
- Oversee close coordination with all other IT groups and external partners, to ensure well integrated BI and analytics solutions that adhere to all applicable standards, policies, and security protocols
- Establish the annual operating and capital budget for all BI and analytics applications, partner work, licensing, team members and other associated costs
WHAT WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO BRING
Experience
Data and Analytics
- Minimum 15 years of overall work experience
- Minimum 8 years demonstrating leadership qualities and/or overseeing deliverables
- Experience in business or customer-based data and analytics related roles
- Experience in building organizational capabilities including staff, tools, and process
- Experience driving cross-functional collaboration and transformation in a large corporate environment
- Experience in building and leading high performing teams
- Experience in BI, Data Lake Management, Data Hubs, etc.
- Experiences in the construction materials/ concrete/ aggregate industries considered an asset
Technical Skills/Knowledge
- Understanding of Data Quality Management, BI frameworks, and tools
- Knowledge of advanced Analytics and Intelligence tools and methods with both structured and unstructured data such as Predictive Modeling, Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning
Education/Certification/Designation
- Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative discipline
- Master’s Degree in related fields*
