Her Name is KIWI!
We are in need of rehoming our cute little Green Cheek Conure, named Kiwi. She is the cutest and most loyal little companion for anyone with the patience to gain her trust. She loves to spend time with her humans. Due to some unfortunate changes within our home and career we are not able to spend the amount of time with her as she deserves, and hope to find her a loving home where she does.
About:
13-year-old green cheek conure. It is not confirmed if she is a female as its hard to tell with these birds, and it didn’t say anything on her paperwork. Her voice and demeaner was always just feminine to us so we have always called her a girl!
Health History:
Kiwi has always had a pretty clean bill of health without having to need much vet visits at all.
Once her arm band from the breeder got stuck up past her elbow which irritated her leg so we had it removed. We still have the band with the number and her leg is fine.
Kiwi can stress pluck her feathers under her wings when she has a lot of stress and has had small ‘stress bands’ on her feathers since young. She has lived a very low stress life, but she can be just a bit anxious. She is missing some feathers under her wings, but it has not gotten worse in years as it seems to be well managed. Hoping to find her a non stressful environment for her to flourish.
Its not often one travels with a bird, but Kiwi does gets car sick. We have a ‘pack-o-bird’ carrier for traveling but she will throw up in it when she is in it. To help with this we would give her some ginger chunks to eat or stick a piece of ginger in her water and it seems to help.
To trim her nails we wrap her in a towel like they do at the vet and trim them with small clippers. It’s a pretty easy process and can show you this if you want. It can be quite stressful to do this process at a vet, and its much easier to do it at home with people she is familiar with. Sandpaper perches don’t work well for this and as she is so light, they just tend to irritate her feet more instead.
Food/Treats:
We have a bird recipe book that has some suggested food mixes depending on the season that you can have. We would normally prepare a large batch of these bird mixtures depending on the season, and it would normally be enough food for 4+ months. We would bag them in small snack bags and would feed her one each morning, and then fresh fruit in the evening. She also has her pellets available at all times.
Fresh Fruit Favourites: Bananas, apples, grapes, oranges, peaches, loves any berries too
Treats: Absolute favourite is dried banana chips. These are the only treats we use for training. She also loves Nutriberries, specifically the tropical kind, she would always have some in her treat ball or just in her dish daily. She likes millet too.
Behaviour:
Kiwi can be a bit particular with who she likes. If you are confident with birds she is usually fine. She does have a tendency to prefer males over females, most likely due to confidence around her. She doesn’t like poking fingers so usually always good to start with a fist or arm to get her to step up or she might bite (like any bird). She can be a bit nippy if you can’t read her body language so not ideal with kids.
She can be a bit anxious and some seemingly random things that freak her out. For example some purple items can cause her to squeak. Used to be red but now its purple lol. She doesn’t like brooms or vacuums like most pets. If you are holding anything while around her she usually will try to attack your hand. Its actually a protective response when she does that to help get you away from what ever that item might be. Se hates pill bottles, pens, water bottles and cans especially, but its hard to tell if its hate or loves to play with them. She can be a bit territorial of her cage as well, it is her home/safe space.
When Kiwi is scared she will make a loud chirping sound, kind of sounds like an alarm, and then it’s followed by her saying “you’re okaaaay” lol sometimes I just wrap her blanket around her cage to give her a second to calm down from whatever is scaring her and then she’s fine!
Toys:
Kiwi is sensitive to the coloured rope toys for some reason. We had one and it started to irritate her feet and she was picking at them. So if you have these we just wrap them in vet wrap and they still work great that way. She loves snuggle huts and snuggle corners. She sleeps in a snuggle hut every night so she would love one in her cage. She loves any toys with bells too they are her absolute favourite.
Words/Tricks:
She says good morning every morning
Love you
Do you want to come out
Kiwi (her name is the main thing she says)
Give me a kiss
Pretty girl
What are you doing/ What do you do
Come here
Baby
Hi cutie
Kiwi go poopShe is pooped trained, knows how to wave, shake, flip, lie on her back, spin, say pretty girl, give kisses, fetch
She can learn a lot more but we just haven’t had the time with her unfortunately. She used to be able to play basket ball etc.
Time out of cage/routines:
Kiwi has a cage blanket that we wrap her with at night. She usually sleeps for about 12 hours like this. Right now it’s usually 9pm bedtime and 9am wake up but this can be adjusted to your schedule! She always had a blanket and it helps with her anxiety so I would continue to do this.
When out of her cage she likes to snuggle like in the pictures with one foot on your thumb, one foot tucked up and lying into the back of your hand. She also likes to explore, she loves baths. We usually bath her in a casserole dish with a bit of water in it. She likes to play with/eat ice cubes. She is fully flighted but doesn’t fly often, she usually just walks/climbs around. Sometimes she will fly after you if you are leaving the room and land on your shoulder.

250 470 7561If for some reason, it’s not working out I ask that you please contact me, and she come back into my care. I want to ensure she is taken care of so would prefer to be part of rehoming her if needed. It’s heart breaking for me to have to rehome her, just some changes at home and career have not resulted in our inability to give her the time and attention that she deserves. I would love to keep in touch and know that she is happy.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Please respond with a bit of back ground including if you have any previous bird experience. If the ad is up she is available.

Here's some information on Nikko.
His date of birth is August 5 2020. Born through a breeder in Salmon Arm. Still just a baby at 6 months old.
He's quite lively and social.
He's free flight in the house when we're home.
His coloring is stunning which goes along with his personality!
He loves to sing songs, and will mimic lyrics and whistles.
He eats well, and likes to share meals with us.
He's outgoing and personable.
Like all bird's ( and people ) he has his "moments" When he doesn't get his way he will definitely tell you. Doesn't take him long to bounce back from a circumstance that he feels he was in the right.
He enjoys hanging out with his people most of all. That's when he's at his happiest.
He likes to be where ever you are in the home, from getting ready in the morning ( sitting on the shoulder ) brushing teeth, making meals, showering. To just chilling watching tv in the evening.
Cirmstances being as they are.... Not being home enough to keep his life enriched and "entertained" has brought us to the decision to do what is right for HIM. It has taken much thought and deliberation to make this choice to find him the best home possible.
$800 comes with toy's and food. Cage is not included.
*Quesnel* Possible delivery to PG or Williams Lake

is name is Rico, I unfortunately have to sell him because he recently lost his friend and has been pulling out his feathers and I can't afford to get a new one, I'd prefer to sell him to someone who already has a bird or someone who is almost always home to give him attention, he is 3 years old, he doesn't bite unless you get him mad. contact if interested.
